EMERGENETICS IS DEFINED AS A MERGING OF TWO IDEAS: BEHAVIOR EMERGING FROM OUR LIFE EXPERIENCES AND DRIVEN BY THE GENETICS OF OUR HERITAGE. IT REFLECTS THE FACT THAT WE ALL HAVE UNIQUE TALENTS, SOME OF WHICH ARE LEARNED AND OTHERS IN-BORN.

To support CoreLink’s mission to provide every opportunity for personal and professional development to its people, the Learning & Development team owns and champions the implementation of Emergenetics from the first day an employee joins the team.

Through an online assessment and an in-person workshop, the Emergenetics Profile provides a distinct picture of an individual’s thinking and behaving styles. The purpose of this is self-understanding; it provides employees with an easy-to-digest picture of the make-up of their intrinsic behaviors. It also offers valuable insights on how individuals can enhance their own intelligence, make changes in their lives, and interact with others in a variety of settings.

After an employee has taken the assessment, the results are delivered in an aesthetically-pleasing format, designating individuals by four thinking attributes: analytical, structural, social, and conceptual. Plus, it rates an individual’s placement in three behavioral attributes: expressiveness, assertiveness, and flexibility.

ANALYTICAL: Combines rational thought with abstract ideas

CONCEPTUAL: Combines intuitive thoughts with abstract ideas

STRUCTURAL: Combines sequential thought with practical ideas

SOCIAL (RELATIONAL): Combines intuitive thought with love of people

EXPRESSIVENESS: Your amount of participation with others and the world around you. It’s not what you experience on the inside, but what you share with the outside.

ASSERTIVENESS: The style and pace with which you advance thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. The pace at which you take action. Everyone is assertive; we just assert in different ways.

FLEXIBILITY: Your willingness to accommodate the thoughts, actions and feelings of others. Your comfort in looking at options or staying focused.


For Team CoreLink, having insight into each person’s perspective promises ultimate teamwork and collaboration. Leaders within CoreLink are able to use the easy-to-read results to formulate better working environments that cater to each employee’s needs. Employees at every level post their result sheets in their work spaces, offering a quick reference to anyone else in the organization about how they prefer to approach each aspect of their daily life.

Together, it has attributed to an environment open-minded to appreciating the differences in each person’s approach to community and work, instead of one built on a rigid working structure. This focus on optimal culture for each individual employee has allowed for a positive workforce of dedicated and hardworking team members who find pride in showing up each day, despite CoreLink’s current journey.

The data collected within Emergenetics has also influenced how the Learning & Development team approached different types of personal and professional development opportunities. Understanding that some employees may benefit from sessions that are more intimate or ecstatic, and offering opportunities to learn in both types of environments, means every person has the chance to become their best self as they prepare for their future.
